Inside a view camera, everything appears upside down. I’m Charles, a picture maker.

In 2011, I produced A Place Called Happy in the Texas Panhandle. Since then, my work has focused on the Permian Basin, historic regional trails, and Navasota. I’m based in the Midland/Odessa area, intent on making something every day.

My approach is straightforward. I use unadorned tools to make clear, honest records of buildings, roads, and open land exactly as they exist when you pass them by. It’s an exercise in looking closely at the ordinary, altered landscape and leaving it to speak for itself.
