Inside a view camera, everything appears upside down. I’m Charles, a picture maker.

In 2011, I named a picture series A Place Called Happy in the Texas Panhandle, and since, I’ve eyed the Permian Basin, an old trail, and Navasota. I’m based in Midland/Odessa to create something every day, a 2017 artist at Navasota Artists in Residence.

I don’t use flashy filters or try to make things look fancy. I just use simple cameras to take clear, honest pictures of buildings, roads, and open land exactly the way they look when you drive past them. It’s all about looking closely at the ordinary world and keeping it simple.
