The Fading Neon
The small mom-and-pop truck stops are gone, replaced by large chains.
It’s not a truck stop if it lacks a restaurant. And I’m not talking about it having sub sandwiches or fast-food chains. You want a real cup of coffee in a glass mug.
Can you believe it? We went from a world with pay telephone booths to everyone walking around with a mobile phone in their pocket.
Just think, someday people will be nostalgic for this present moment. Someone will be nostalgic for the time neon died and was barely a flicker, as if this is how it had always been.
We’ll become nostalgic for our gradual erosion.
