Work
I’m a tough sell to package into a standard artist format. For one, it’s photography; for two, the blog is too chatty. Honestly, sometimes I don’t even think of my work as art. It’s some weird hybrid thing—a mishmash of a wannabe photojournalist who dabbled in art, living way out in West Texas, and not even the artsy parts of it.
If I write the same thing again and again but in a new way, that’s cool. I'm okay with repeating myself. But where it all lands is a love of photography. I always start there and return to it. That love for photography sustains me, and heals me, and allows me to endure.
All the titles, the fancy offices, and the polished artist statements strip work down to a transaction. But real work isn’t about status or chasing prestige. It’s about stepping up to do the unglamorous tasks nobody else wants to touch, honoring real human connections, and showing up for people when life gets heavy.
